12thC private chapel for nearly 800 years, a parish church since 1891. Anglo-Saxon, Norman and Georgian features, superb Norman arches. 13th century effigies, six hatchments. Window bought here from the Coliseum in Regents Park, London, recently identified as showing Prince Arthur, brother of Henry VIII. It has two 13th century effigies, six very fine funeral hatchments, and some interesting Victorian stained glass windows.
It was the private chapel of the Delaval and then the Astley families for 800 years, but since 1891 has been a parish church, and is still used for Public Worship on Sundays and also for weddings etc.
